#215 Flowing with Mozez

Shannon’s final interview for this season of the Bruce Lee Podcast is with a deep and generous soul named Mozez Wright. You may know Mozez’s work from his time fronting the musical group Zero7. His smooth and transcendent vocal delivery found him an instant following, and he has gone on to co-write, record and tour with Nightmares On Wax as well as release a number of solo projects on his own record label Numen Records. But Shannon knows Mozez because he has been a good friend of the Bruce Lee Family Company for a number of years even though this is the first time Shannon has had the pleasure of speaking with him. Mozez is a Bruce Lee admirer and supporter and he has generously allowed us to use his music for some our videos and posts from time to time. He has also formed a bond of friendship with one of our own, Chris Husband, who creative directs a number of areas for the Bruce Lee Family Company. Shannon was really excited to chat with Mozez because firstly, she loves his music (please check out the show notes for more about Mozez and how to connect with him and his music), but also because she feels like he’s been part of the Bruce Lee family for a while and their time to chat was just a matter of the stars aligning and they finally have. Please take a listen to this wise and wonderful soul as Shannon and Mozez talk about life’s ups and downs and how to keep our spirits high. This is Mozez on the Bruce Lee Podcast!

Get to know Mozez

Mozez is an artist with a highly defined identity who occupies his own musical space. Mozez’s chief desire is to open the minds of his audience to new possibilities and ways of thinking.

During his spell fronting Zero7, along with Sia, Sophie Barker and Tina Diko, Mozez showcased his stunning vocals, styled with an easy delivery, which generated a personal fan base. His fans were rewarded in 2006 with the release of his first solo album, So Still; an eye into the core of Mozez super smooth style and musical abilities. In 2010, Mozez created his own label Numen Records, releasing his first album Time Out in 2011. During 2012-2016 Mozez was busy co-writing songs, recording and touring with Nightmares on Wax, whom he still occasionally appears with for live performances.

During this time Mozez also produced his second solo album for Numen Records, Wings, released in 2015. This significant work reveals a mix of life situations highlighted by aspects of spirituality; gaining Mozez high praise from Dermot O’Leary and Tom Robinson of the BBC. Dream State, a special re-mix album, followed ‘Wings’ in 2017 and features different artists whom Mozez has collaborated with.

Marvin Gaye, Coldplay, Bob Marley, The Carpenters  and most recently, Fat Freddy’s Drop show the diversity of Mozez musical inspiration whilst lyrically he digs deep within to create highly original content. 2021 will see the release of Lights On, Mozez new major album; a prime example of his lyrical dexterity combined with musical perfection. ‘Lights On’ shares Mozez personal thoughts and his take on different experiences, expanding our perception of what, he believes, is really going on in the world.
